I'm not a metal person, nor am I a fiberglass person, I can pile up sawdust and understand wood and most of it's quirks but metal cornfuses me and fiberglass as well, I have a persistant but small leak right over my head in the front of the bus, when it rains on the road I get a drip, drip, onto the top of my head, the voices sing along with the water but I find it frustating, does anyone know of anyone that is well versed in this particular problem and is affordable that I can line up for next summer, I believe that the leak is coming from the seam where the cap meets the metal roof and probably just needs to be loosened and redone to seal it but not being that person I would rather have somebody who is that person do it and get it right the first time, I realize that water can travel a long ways before it reappears on the inside but I do see a small drippage when the bus is parked and it rains, my days of heavy duty repairs are behind me now and so I seek guidance. | ||

Cody A small leak like that can be very hard to find.. I had the same problem when i bought my holiday rambler in 88 I finely gave up and sanded the top down real good and covered it with EPDM Liquid rubber that did the job. I still live full time in the H/R NO problems with leaks... I fully intend to cover the FLX if i ever get that far. LOL JIM | ||

Cody, Before you condemn the seams, take a real close look at the clearance lights. I have an Eagle and unlike GMs, etc, the light assemblies roof escape hatches, etc are all plastic. They crack at the fasteners and are impossible to seal after that as the cracks travel. | ||

check the seam where the cap meets at the top of the windshield. Water can enter here and migrate up under cap. | ||

My question is a reference to a shop or person that is well versed in this type of operation and that is affordable, I've spent 2 years chasing that drip and have had all the clearance lights off and cleaned with new gaskets, sealed between the glass and the windshield gasket, cleaned and lifted the seam and put a butyl gasket in between then covered it in liquid roof with new rivets, so I'm asking if anyone knows of anyone or shop that can fix the problem without requiring an arm and a leg in the process. Off the subject,, I'm watching a skidder wrassle a massive hard maple, I've got some selective cutting going on towards the back of my property and I can see the skid road from the house, a skidder has got a hard maple that is probably close to 5 ft on the stump and it's all it can do to move it towards the deck area, each time the skidder trys to raise the end of the log to pull it the front tires come up and he lurches forward a few feet then has to regrip it lol. Dan. I don't know where you are so I don't know if this will help but I got structural work done at B&B coach in Las Vegas. Gary did a great job for me and his price was by far the best for what I wanted done. He gave me a firm quote before starting the job and that was the final price. He does specialize in Eagles but does work on all coaches. Hope it helps or at least is a place to start Les | ||

Les... Cody lives so far north that when we tried to give it to Canada they laughed, it closer for him to drive to Toronto than it is t o Thunder Bay or whatever they want to be called this week. ...and as for him callin anyone forget it, he quit callin when they took the crank off the side of the wooden box ! BTW... I took a look thru the July & Aug. posts to find you annual "We had our first frost\snowstorm today!" post... nada.. crickets chirping so is it Global Warming, getting old or just tired of milking the peanut gallery for alligator tears because your tookus is frozen while the rest of civilization is enjoying the remnants of Autumn's warm glow....? ;) | ||

I will be thinking of you next summer when you are sweating your a$$ off in 130 weather. Got our first skiff of snow last night and it is forecast to be above freezing tomorrow so it might not last. Most of the time I like our weather. I will admit that I am not looking forward to -30 and lots of snow. You guys what live in the stinking hot just don't know what is good for you | ||

Jack, we're 600 miles north of toronto and thunder bay is straight across the lake from us lol, we had a phone with a crank on the side and the mouth piece to talk into when I was young, our ring was 2 longs and a short. Nothing I'd like better than to find a cell phone with a crank on the side lol. | ||

I had a small leak from my rear cap. Caulked the seams and sealed the lights and still keep me guessing. It turned out to be a few tiny cracks in the fiberglass that were not noticeable. I used RV roof coating and that fixed it. I have seen a few busses since that have the same problem. |
