anyone have an opinion as to using synthetic oil in the rts. im considering using it.

This has been discussed numerous times on this and other bus boards, and the word is this:

DDA recommends STRAIGHT 40wt CF-2 oil in all 2-stroke engines (53, 71 & 92 series).

Listen to the factory on this one, they're right.

Chevron Delo 100 or Shell Rotella are two brands that meet DDA specs. Order from your local oil distributor - this is not something normally stocked at your local wallyworld. Order several cases so you have it when you need it.

Synthetics may be used in the transmission and rear axle, however. Just not in the engine.
