I've seen discussions here on the BBS of DD 8v92's and 6v92's with 740 trannys all right hand eng. But is there a left hand 8v92 or 6v92 with a 730 tranny combination? Thinking of possibly changing to a 8v92 or 6v92 with 730 trans. if any out there.

730's are only good for about 275 hp so the 8V92 would probably kill it in short order.

Why bother ? Find a Flex transit with 4 stroke engine and slushpump and just transplant.
Series 50 or 60 , L10 or C8.3 are all out there CHEAP!

The rear axle will fit and your old pumpkin is worth 2 grand alone if its in exc ondition.

Take the big front brakes and high cut front PS axle , so you can do U turns in your driveway.

50 years of progress is worth building into the Sportscar of Coaches , as it surely will be running in another 50 years.

Al: The left hand 6v92 and 730 in a early 80's Flx/Grumman will fit and do the job for u. U can easily and cheaply pump the engine to 325hp and w/the rear-end now in the 06, u will like the combination. I know of 2 of them that have been done this way.

FF has a point, however, most Grumman Flx and other transits are wide bodies and the 06 is not. The rear axle is not a swap-out deal. Also, later Flx/Grumman used the L-10, a good engine for your application, but it will require mods to the dog house deck as opposed to the 6v92, which is a straight slip-in. The L-10 is a tight fit application. I have never seen a S60 in a transit, very few C 8.3 (all in smaller buses) and most S50's are found in Gilligs, a T-line right hand application w/ 740 trans and u may want to consider that as a donor coach if u decide on a full rear end swap-out. They also made the Gilligs in 96" wide.
