I have 11.00 R-20 Tires, go 50 MPH. @ 2500 (Eng.)RPM., (aprox. 487.189 Tire Rev's per Mi.) (X50 Mi.)=Aprox. 24360 Tire Rev's per 50 Mi.... 2500 (Eng Rev's) X 60(Miniutes)= Aprox. 150000 Eng. Rev's per hr.. So... My Diff. Gear Ratio is about 6.15:1. ? This seems about what I Came up with. NOTE: Trans. (Fuller 5 Manual) Is 1:1 I/O (Input to Output). Any "Knowlageable" Input on what ratio wold boost-up the Hwy. top speed To 70 MPH ?

Hi,
I come out with about 4.4:1. A taller tire would help somewhat if it'll fit.

Try plugging various combinations into the calculator on Daris's site link below to answer your question:

Or, you can also try the one on Mallie's site:

Thanks RJ, for the info. Looks like 4.3:1 For final +/- 0.2or0.3 should do. I am in no hurry to spend $ I don't have but just for reference, Diff. is (I think) Rockwell...? Front Axel is "Rockwell"... No tag, only nos. are stamped on r,r axel housing faceing towards Trans.(rearward). I haven't yet sanded it enough to read.

We changed a 6.14 for a 4.11. We now get 60 mph at about 2200 rpm. The tires are 504 revs/mile. And we have an automatic. i believe the theoretical revs at 60 is 2070.

A side benefit of a taller drive ratio is a quieter bus. The slower running engine doesn't make as much noise.
