I'm getting ready to lay down sheets of 3/4 inch plywood to the original deck of my conversion. Do I need to glue it as well as screw it down, or will just the screws work just as well?

Wow! I used 1/4" over the double 1/2" that Prevost used. On my MCI I used 1/4" over their 5/8". This is more than enough. Do you have any idea what 8 or 9 sheets of 3/4" ply weighs?

Anyway, I stapled it. Lots of staples. It'll never come up, at least not in pieces bigger than sawdust.

We used 1/2" ply over 1/2" sound deadening board from HD and used deck screws into the 1" mahogany laminate floor in the truck body. Didn't use glue, but kept snapping off the heads of the deck screws if we were not careful how hard we pulled them down.

About 4" around the perimeter and 12" in the field.

Peter.

I used PL urethane adhesive and screws w/ 5/8 t&g over original 3/4. Yes, it is a bit of over-kill, but, it is solid and quiet. One large tube of the PL at $6 is minor in the over-all scheme of things! Cork tile on top of that.

The problem with the old flooring is that it starts to delaminate. The glue will only adhere to the top layer as it peels. I used round head bolts through the framing on the corners then screws into the frame. Make sure your screws are going into the framing not just the old floor.

I stripped the linoleum off the old floor and glued and air nailed (short nails) 1/4 luan over top. I think it is important that the floor should be glued to avoid squeaks afterward, which will be just about impossible to fix after everything is in place.

Thank you all so much for your input. It is simply amazing to just get on this old computer and in a matter of minutes, get opinions from all you bus nuts that have been there, done that. This really helps us new to this conversion thing.
