This is just a little trivia for fun.
This bus unit number is 20101 it is the 101st bus built. I was always under the assumption that there was only 100 built. This bus is the last one built and is different than the rest. Can anyone spot the differences?

There were two prototypes built in 67, then production was started in 69 and ended in 70 with a total of 100 produced. :>) Only thing i can see is that this one does not have the tag axle cover.

LOL! It is hard to beat a GMC They are some really nice buses.:-)

Ed, I think they removed all the skirts on the tags shortly after the buses were put into service.

Matt, The siding is stainless steel, but the difference is in the siding. It took me a long time to notice the difference. This bus was built in 1971 as a replacement for a Canadian bus that was totaled.

I think that the roof line is different. it has two steps in it and along with the skirts, I believe it is stainless also.
Now what is the difference??

Hey good grief, I just got home!

The roof is the same as the rest, but the detail strip that ran back to the solid blue paint below the door and the window behind it is just siding. All the others had a flat piece about 6 inches high, with a trapezoid stamping about every 3 or 4 inches apart. Look at the right turn signal for a reference, the different strip used to run on the door and back to the diagonal, now its just siding with two bands.

This is a good picture to show the difference in size between the 13.5/24.5 steer and drive wheels and tires, and the 12.5/22.5 tag wheel and tire!

Gary Daniels MCI 6 still has the skirts on his tags and he has 12Rx22.5 stud pilot wheels all the way around on his with no adapters been like for 15 years I know of

I did a turbo 12v71T and a Allison 754 for him he lives in Hobbs NM

Good eye George, I looked at this bus a few different times and thought something was different. I was told it came that way from the factory.

I have been collecting pictures and information on these buses for awhile now. I have pics of most of the 100 built. But I still don't have any pics of yours George! :-)

Is that the bus you were telling me about awhile back? The one that is still an all seated coach. I would sure like to see a pic of that one. Most of the pictures I have are from in their Grayhound days. I only have about a dozen pictures of recent ones.

Matt,
That is as large as the server would allow me to go. If you look really close at the front wheel well and on the door, you should see the differences. The same goes for the rear wheel well area, but not very visible in the pic.

This bus was a replacement for Canadian bus #344 that was totaled in 1971, and then it burnt up in 1979 on hwy 1 near Gliechen Alberta.

I have been in contact with some ex drivers and mechanics that broke some of these in.

Gordon had one for sale in Ormond several many years ago and the buyers were there and airing her up for a drive. It was amazing the size of this thing next to mine. It was very impressive but i thought how much power would it take to move it.I would loveone with a series 60! I like them.

The series 60 is a great engine especially when coupled to a 10 speed Eaton Autoshift.

I love those MC-8 buses too. Nearly bought one around 1993 from a trucking company in Phoenix AZ. Wonder what happened to it.......
