I remember it vividly, I was a Freshman in high school. . .

We were out on the practice football field, working on our band's halftime show for the weekly football game when we got the news.

Shocked, stunned, disbelief, tears.

Mr. Perkins, our band director, gathered us all around, had us hold hands, then led us in prayer for family and country.

Not much in the way of academics for the remainder of school, but we all learned a valuable lesson about the fragility of life that day:

November 22, 1963

RIP, JFK, RIP.

Yes I do RJ. I was on my way back to the depot as I use to deliver milk retail to homes. It was one of those things you hear that is so hard to believe. Just like 911. A very sad day in history.

Well as I was only 3 at the time I don't remember it as it happened.
But I do remember as the years passed that it was always remembered...

I was in the 4th grade in Beverly Mass. The teachers just lined us all up and sent us home early. I didn't find out what happened until I got home and found my Mom crying. She was a huge JFK supporter, having grown up in Boston.

It certainly was a dark day in American history.

I can recall it like it was yesterday.
I was 21 years old and in the USAF(SAC)Schilling AFB Kansas.
I was asleep after working the mid-night shift.
A Teck/Sgt on our crew who lived in the barricks came in our room and got us up and stated JFK has been killed in Dallas,Texas.
It was a very sad day for America.
I still ask my self now 48 years later who did it?

We were in Biology class and they started playing the live feed off the radio over the loudspeaker system. One of those "moments in time" like the Challenger explosion and the World Trade Center bombing.
Kind of funny that our lives are timed and defined by disasters.

I was a soph in H.S. A lot of the girls were walking up and down the halls crying. I don't remember if school was let out early. But for good luck and Secret Service protection we may have had Reagan and Ford assassninated also. Scary times.

My dad was 3 years old..my mom 1...me...23 years away...does that make me one of the youngest busnuts? :-)

I do remember Sept 11th though...since I'm on the West Coast...saw the news before even left for school. Most classes were spent staring at the televisions in rooms that had them (even though they were never used otherwise). Not a day to forget....

I was in the sixth grade in a two room school that had six grades, three in each room. The three grades from my room crowded into the teachers Pontiac to listen to the radio.

Laryn,

A post on one of the biker boards I frequent had a bunch of posts about when you were born. One guy posted that for his parents' first date, they went on a picnic. He said he went with his father and came home with his mother. Ha...

I was 9 in 63 and happened to be home sick from school. I was watching TV in my parents bedrooom (illegally) and they broke into whatever show I was watching. I went down and told my Mom, but she wouldn't believe me until we turned on the TV.

It always seemed strange to me that someone could place that many shots from a bolt action rifle at a moving target from that distance, in that amount of time. But then there are a lot of strange things that happen. I was on a plane, pushing back at PDX on 9-1-1 when we had to return to the gate. Amazing how fast the entire airport emptied out.
