Hello again folks, what is a good paint for the battery compartment? The start batteries compartment has a lot of the paint flaking, I want to scrape and repaint that area. Also when I put in my house batteries I want to paint the compartment with a good paint. I would try one of the box companies but I don't trust that any of them would know oil from water based hehehe, figure one of you has tried it and made it work. Any suggestions? Thanks |

John, I love the Krylon Epoxy that I got at Wally-world, but my local stores stopped selling it and my Home Depot never had it. I'd love to find more. |

I agree with Two Dogs, POR 15 is impervious to everything but ball ammunition and sidegrinders. Ed |

...ever tried "Hammerite"? Brush it on thick. Has 'fiberglass resin' look and smell. Extremely durable, scratch and scuff resistant, Excellent rust inhibitor. Broad range of colors. Worth checking out!! FWIW Mark Gillig 636D |

Hey Russ... Ace hardware? I guess not all Wallys carry the same items. Last two cans I bought, came from a WallyWorld. But I do remember getting a can of Ivory at an Ace hardware also. Any brand of epoxy/resin paint should be the same, though. |

Get a product that is unaffected (and advertised as such) to battery acid. You also get a surface that's as hard as yesterdays cornbread. You will not need to recoat it next year, or the next, or the next. Be sure and get the color you like, else you'll need to break out your side grinder to change it. POR-15 ---- about $20 for either a quart or 6 half-pints. Get the 6 half-pints if you can. It doesn't keep long after opening. You can order it off their web site. I don't have anything to do with the company or selling it, but I am a user. Try it. You'll learn what permanent means! |

I cleaned the batt compartment and used a couple of cans of rubber undercoating. Sprayed a couple of coats and never had a problem after that. |

You could always go the military route and just pull them out every 2 weeks and repaint the box, with what ever you can your hands on . Bill 4104 4032 |
