It is that time of the year again here in the Southeast area of the
USA and we have our first named tropical storm of the season "ALEX"

This storm can affect travel on east coast highways, such as
Interstate 95, as the storm moves up the eastern seaboard. Yesterday
I had a friend that traveled up I-95 near Charleston, SC and he
reported extremely heavy rainfall at times, which slowed traffic down
considerably, as the bands of rain came on shore from the edges of
this storm.

I went motorcycle riding yesterday afternoon for about 125 miles
north and west of here and just ran into light sprinkles, so overall
it was an enjoyable day, with intermittent clouds and sunshine. Later
in the day here in the Columbia area we experienced heavy down pours
in some areas and we expect more of the same today. we are located
approximately 100 miles from Charleston.

You can track the progress of this and other storms to come, by going
to these web sites;

Go to this site for the most up to date NWS radar view of the storm,
it is from Charleston, SC and you can use the arrows at the upper
left to move to adjacent NWS radar as the storm moves;

This one is good to have any where you are at for Doppler radar;

This is the site that I use for a base of different hurricane radar
web sites;
