TWO DOGS:

There are WONDERFUL, CARING FOLKS in every State of the USA and in every COUNTRY for that matter.
One would never know it listening to the evening news or reading the newspaper!!!!

If we could get every Newspaper to devote a small square on each Front Page to the Good News, and every T.V. station to devote 5 minutes of their 1/2 hour to the Good News, then a whole lot of folks might feel a bit better about the world we live in!!!!

Just realize how these Boards bring folks together with Help and Info. We are people helping people, with no strings attached!!!

I'll end here and go home, before I get on my soap-box!!!!

Happy & SAFE!!! Bussin to ALL.

I'M WITH YA, LUKESTER!

Thank You!

My solution to the media's propensity for negativism, drama and horror...I STOPPED. That's right - zero, zip, nada. No papers, no evening news, no newsmagazines, and very rapid use of the delete key on the internet. I feel 100% better.

If we get hit with a big bomb I'll either never know what hit me or just go stay with Two Dogs out in the boonies. Hehe. Heck it's been years since I've seen a real cowboy. They stopped doing that in the now-sissified big cities of Texas. ;)

He was the real thing,.........inside of his pick-up smelled like leather & horse s**T.......nice guy,...kinda picks ya' up to know there are good people....this ain't the place to be if a bomb hit....I'm about 25 air miles away for the supply for all nukes....during this last little skirmish....we had them black triangle planes out here...
About ten years ago...I was zipping to town & saw a cowboy in a pen doing something...drove on a couple miles ...& realized...that guy was pullin' a calf....I turned back around & got my 35 mm camera....got some unusual pictures...BUT....the best one...was when he got thru...he had his shirt hanging on the saddel horn...but...before he put it on ...he wiped his arms off on the horses tail..(yukky stuff)....If ya' could see this picture...the horse turns around & is looking at him like..."WHAT THE HELL ARE YA' WIPEIN" ON ME"

Greetings,
I know some of those folks.....
I was born and raised on a 6000 acre ranch.
Most of my family including father and brother were real honest to goodness Texas cowboys.
I have pulled a few calves myself....
And made a few steers from bulls.....
If you looked at me now in my "nerdy" position at a major aerospace firm, you would never know.
I still keep the kind gentle friendly go-outta-my-way-to-help-you attitude and it serves me well.
My parents taught me to show respect for EVERYBODY and would wail the tar outta me if I did otherwise.
I try to instill these values in my kids.
It's a shame more folks don't.
But, as it was said, there are lots of folks like that out there EVERYWHERE that you don't ever read or hear about.
It's all about the "sensationalism, gore, death and distruction" - where has all the "good news" gone?
It's simple, "good news" don't sell and the advertisers rule the world.
Cheers,
Joe Petty - AKA Vern1

There are still a lot of good people out there. I guess I am going to blow my own horn a little, but here goes. I stopped to help a lady get her car started a few years back. She had a dead battery. I had jumper cables but my tow car was hooked to the bus. I could not get any help from the other people there. I unhooked my tow car and drove it over to her car and got her car started. She ask me how much she owed me. I said about a million dollars. I then said if that was to much then just to help the next person. Then I added it would be nice if she would help two people, and tell them to do the same thing. It just might get something started.

I don't know! I tried to be a good samaritan once when I witnessed a youg girl being thrown out of a car by two guys who eventually sped off with a baby in the back seat. I knew this didn't look real normal so the NICE guy that I am and most of you would dispute, went to her aid. She surprising didn't want IT or ANY help! She just sat there crying. Seeing as how I was just a block away from the nearest sherrif's sub station I decided to give them a call. Nobody showed up, so I drove the block and told them. A plain clothes detective followed me over to where she was and he began asking her questions and he was not getting any answers. I waited patiently to see what was going on and all of sudden she bolts down the busy roadside only to be tackled by the detective and 2 other sherrif's. After being handcuffed and her personal belongings gone thru, it was told to me that not only was she holding a knapsack full of drug paraphenalia (the hard stuff) she was wanted for murder charges in Cananda! Now I'm thinking, this is NOT good! She knows who I am, what I look like and there are still 2 scruffy looking dudes riding around in the cadilac that I'm sure are in with her on these charges. Needless to say, I didn't stay around much longer and I made sure she didn't see my tag number from the back seat of the patrol car. I have yet to go out of my way to help a woman in distress. You just never know, but yes I agree, there are MANY MANY good people still around to offer help and give it, just be careful! I know I am! :)

I know, Ace. But I'm sure you've thought about all the other folks you might've saved who could have been at risk with her on the loose.

This is a "True Story". Bill Gates of MicroSoft fame was fish in one of our local lakes, in the interior of BC. The weather started to get ugly so he packed up and headed for town, 50 miles away. On the way out from the lake, his car brakes down. So he starts to hitch-hike...but no one would give him a ride. A local school teacher final picks him up, but he has no clue who he is. The following Monday, the school teacher's banker phones and tells him that Bill Gates has paid off his morgage (around 150K).
Sometimes nice guy's don't finish last..

Another true story (I read it in the newspaper three or four years ago). Bill Gates gets a speeding ticket in his Ferrari. He's caught doing something like 85 in a 45 zone, if I remember correctly. Bill Gates' lawyers File harrassment suits against the cop, the police chief, the DA, the mayor, etc. In response the city voids the ticket, because they figure it would cost too much in legal fees to defend against all the harrassment lawsuits.
