Bus has started running slower and slower, lots of smoke when throttle is push down heavy, didn't used to do this. Cleaned the oil bath air filter (found 7 mice) but it seems to be getting worse. Took it for a spin today and almost didn't make it back up our Mtn (arkie hill). Looking at the book there seems to be a mechinizm within the air intake and there is a oil cup that I never noticed, should I take the hose off the air breather and then the air intake off to see if the screen is blocked or do I just put some oil in the cup and see if that fixes the problem? Also what kind of oil do I use? Thanks for your help folks

The cup you mention is an ether 'pill cutter' cup. Don't put oil there.

Check and make sure that the emergency shut down is not tripped. It is a round servo that is on your air intake just above the intake manifold. There is an electric solonoide there. If it is not tripped take the big rubber sleve of and start the engine. If it reves up OK then you have a plugged screen in the air cleaner. Make sure that there is no rags or any thing that can get sucked into the air inlet.

It sounds like a lack of air to me. If you realy had mice in there .you may find that there is stuff in your air system from the mice and it may have plugged the filter system up . I stucked a rag into my system and it had the same symtom

Sounds to me like blocked fuel filters. Mine has two. One primary on the bulk head above the tranny, and one in front of the engine.

Looks like the screen inside the bottom of the blower housing was the problem, (all them daid mice caused the oil to fill up the tank and cause the oil to blow past all the screens?) took off the rubber gasket and reached in and my fingers were covered with greasey dirty oil and it felt like the screen was plugged up bad. Called Luke and ordered new screen so should have it all back together by the end of the week, gee ain't bussing fun hehehe

If you are getting a bunch of dirt stuck in the oil on the screen, it's time to check the air filter. You should have no dirt beyond it, even if there is oil in the intake system piping. While you're looking for the problem you might send an oil sample out to be tested for silicon (sand) and dump the oil just in case. Not good to have an abrasive in the engine oil.

I doubt that the screen had ever been changed, and the bus is 1975 year so not sure what is on it yet, but thanks for the heads up
