2D, I'm not very good at this any more, but I think I could take one of the voice boxes out of a teletubbie and reinstall a different voice. In order for it to be your guy, I would need some sound samples to play with. They won't be perfect, but NO Charge. Contact me off line, quickly because we will be offline for the next time to come after friday. Dallas |

Just buy the kid an inexpensive digital recorder from RatShack or WallyWorld and hand it to him as a tip. I'll bet he can figure out what he could use it for, -if- he wanted to use it at all....... And it wouldn't be insulting to him... or appear presumptuous. Just a thought.. |

Two Dogs, You have got a BIGGGG heart. Might I suggest that you talk to the store manager and see if there is something special you could do for the young man. From your post I think he is communicating "Its was a pleasure to serve you" just fine. |

Two Dogs - If you'll contact a professional Speech Therapist, they'll be able to direct you to exactly what you're looking for. The item you're talking about is used frequently with patients who have had a tracheotomy or have lost their larynx due to cancer of the throat. The newer ones can be programmed using a laptop with voice recognition software on it. In Amarillo, check with: Amarillo Speech Hearing & Language Center 1300 Wallace Boulevard Amarillo, TX 79106 806-359-7681 Specialized Therapy Services of Amarillo 2400 Lakeview Drive Amarillo, TX 79109 806-468-9400 Speech Language Services Unlimited 5211 West 9th Avenue Amarillo, TX 79106 806-355-5046 There's also an excellent chance that this young man might even qualify for one w/o anyone investing any money, thru various programs available for folk who fall under the ADA, especially thru the United Cerebral Palsey organization (since you mentioned this particular disability). The closest office to Amarillo is: UCP of Texas 5555 North Lamar Street, Suite L139 Austin, TX 78751 Phone: 512-472-8696/800-798-1492 Fax: 512-472-8026 E-mail: ucptx@onr.com You're on a roll here, TD. . . Go for it! HTH, RJ PD4106-2784 Fresno CA |

============================================= Nice of you busnuts to help. However if he deaf as well I am 92% hard of hearing, can not hear any message to know if it what he want it say from recorder. Whatever you get for him is a reliable box with a button for each recording otherwise he is not able hear which presentable recording is saying with several different message on regular recorder. Another word, a button for each message is most practical for him and he is happier. Link for voice mail. http://www.voicemailtools.com/hoh.asp Another choice is “Blackberry” from Nextel to show any choice of written messages to show them and can be use for TTY communication connection. Link; http://www.lormarlogic.com/blackberry.htm Someone out there may already have such message box with several buttons?????????? I wear two very strong hearing aid.
