This a 8v92 DDEC could it be an electrical or computer problem. I checked the fuel filters they are OK. Throught might be air in the primary filter area. It will run great after ether in air intake but let it set for a hour or more it will not restart. Need Help Carl |

Do you have restrictor oriface in the return line and a check valve, preferably one in supply line and one (Spring loaded type) in return line? Jim Stacy |

if the engine is turning over, you don't have an electrical problem...diesels have no points, or plugs or distributor....it IS a fuel problem....do like I do...what have I done since it ran good... |

2d.... this particular engine is electronic... ddec... that means computer controlled...so it might still "turn over".. even tho it won't run... suggest that you take a look at your fuel filters.. if they're dry, after sitting, it means a fuel line has a leak.. allowing fuel to drain bacl to the tank... if you still have prime, it may be electronic... in which case, you need a "reader" to scan the computer |

Are there glow plugs in that model? Preheater? If a shot of ether gets it started.... |

when I was enduring my tale of woe in SLC, there were three others in the service-writer are for work when I was there. All three for DDEC problems. (Ether gets it started 'cause the injectors ain't injectin') Gary |

DDEC's require a minimum voltage for the computer to "open" the fuel. I have 6V92DDEC2 that will, after a night of dry camping, turn over relatively quickly, but not fire. The reduced voltage is not enough to power the electronics properly. They need something in the neighborhood of 11 volts while under starter load. This happens after dry camping for a night (I inherited the electrical system). Running the battery charger with the generator provides a quick start. Rob |

Rob: I would seriously consider the quick addition of an isolated house battery bank. I think your 11 volt minimum spec. is correct. I presume that to be At the Computer. Mine starts at the touch of the key but I once ran them down after a 3 month sit and at 22.5 on the guage it would turn over (barely) but not fire. |
