Hey Folks: I just returned from a seven week road trip, starting from Natchez,MS to Washington, Down CA, out through the desert and back to Natchez via AZ, NM, TX and LA. When I left Shrevesport I had trouble getting my bus to go in 4th gear. I have a 5 speed. Oh yeah, it is an Eagle O-1. I winged it home shifting from 3rd into 5th. Ick! But, we made it. Could it be a slipped adjustment somewhere? Or, do any of you have an idea? Thanks, Ron R. |

Ron If lubracation and adjustments dosen't fix your problem. I know of a friend that just pulled his trans. out of his 01 to install a 740. He is going to be looking to sell. I get noting out of this, but the enjoyment of helping two people, the buyer and the seller. Contact me off the board if I can help. ALBUS4106@AOL.COM |

If you have some sort of Fuller T-905 or maybe a T-1105 speed, it is possible but unlikely that the tranny is just worn out. However, in a coach application, with proper maintenance, they lasted just about forever. Might just be the shift linkage is either out of adjustment, needs lubrication, or is need of repair. A question?.. is your shift pattern reversed? That is, is it backwards from the normal 5-speed pattern? You might just have the single shift rod going from the shifter in front all the way around and forth to the tranny. Might be some sort of right angle or pivot points that have worn out, resulting in not enough torque/movement to engage... ...the shifting forks enough inside the box. Or...possibly it might actually be the top cover of the tranny (remote type) that has worn shift shafts resulting in 4th being inpossible to get. A replacement top cover may fix it WITHOUT having to change out the entire box. Good luck. |
