Always did like usenet, but the mainstream world hasn't taken up the legacy. The spam problem just about ruined it. The modern version is an RSS/Atom client subscribed to syndicated feeds from sites. It will be awhile longer before the mainstream catches up to that. So we're in an in-between age in terms of the adoption curve, imho.
