Hello Friends: Most of you know that we are a gospel group, and use our Eagle to tour in. We have never properly fixed our bays, and currently just have them open as they came from the factory. Because of buying some new rather expensive equipment, we want to fix our bays up nice to offer protection for our equipment. We have seen pictures of many of your coaches that have had the bays done really nicely, and would love to have your input or ideas on how best to get it done. We are assuming that you attached plywood/OSB or some other material to the bay steel frame walls, with carpeting over that. Do we need to build a wood frame (maybe out of 1x material) to attach the plywood to, or do you just attach it to the steel frame? If you attach it to the frame, do you glue and/or screw it to the metal? What types glue and screws do you use? What type materials do you use for the substrate (plywood, OSB, etc)? What type carpeting or covering over the wood? We load and unload our equipment several times a weekend, and need something that will hold up fairly well. Most of our equipment is on rollers, so it's not like we are sliding a lot of stuff in and out, but we do want something durable. Any help you all could give would be most appreciated. Any drawings, diagrams, instructions, etc would be very helpful. By the way, we are only finishing two bays this way. The other bay is the generator, etc. We are planning on finishing it out as well, but will be using some sheetmetal dividers, etc covered with insulation to help with heat/safety/noise, etc. Thanks to you all. |

Buddy as a fellow gospel singer I have use plywood just fastened to the floor and covered it with scrap commericial carpet from carpet places. If you get high pile it will kinda drag and the smooth will allow you to slid it easier. Anything will help to protect equipment when you are hauling it around. carpet the sides as will if you can. Install plywood have the smooth spray on bed liner sprayed on the plywood will last forever and looks good. If in Albuquerque some times stop at Smith's Ultimate Linings 1 block off I 40 and Juan Pablo he will cut a Eagle owner a deal comes in different colors not just black check his web site he does wonders with the spray on liner good luck |

Although Church groups are seldome in the spotlight , it sounds like this is a business operation, not a motorhome . After any accident any liar for hire will make that point , and the fact that the bus does not have a DOT inspection , the driver may not have a CDL, and is not insured as a commercial vehicle will work against you. Yes I know its a grey area , but the consiquences could be costly. I would NOT have advertising graphics on the coach , or any other signs of a commercial enterprise. FF |

Wow! where did that come from? Your insurance broker should be in the best position to advise you on the type of coverage required. |

...uhhh, not exactly...from my point of view.... A former Insurance Broker. Brokers sell insurance...not legal advice (well...they're supposed to AIR) And yes, they are to "qualify" personal/commercial/etc.etc. IMHO, Fred made the "qualifying" statement..."it sounds like this is a business operation, not a motorhome ." Precisely the approach a good broker would take....in my day, for sure. The response, of course is up to the proposed insured to "prove up". Good post FF. Lots'a "gray areas" in this type thing.
