We jacked up and blocked the bus. The tanks are airing up just fine, the bags are just fine..everything looks good but the tanks just are not pumping air to the front bags...Flat out..Is it the kneeling mechanism? Does this bus have one? Who knows..I have no service manual, there is no swich or valve that we can find that alludes to kneeling..First, does anyone know where I can get a SERVICE Manual for a 79 Saudi MC5C? Or, does anyone know where I might find out where the kneeling mechanism is so I might find a soleniod valve and tear it out!!!!!....I'm going to call someone who knows buses very well to come out and figure this one out because my friend, who has the same bus as me, and I both can not figure out why the front will not air up..no leaks......Just no air to the front bags... |

If you can't find a switch convenient to the driver that is labeled "Kneeling" or something similar, it is doubtful the bus has that feature. In the center of the front axle, mounted on the body is a valve with 2 airlines and a moveable link to the front axle. This is the levelling valve. Crack open the airline feeding the valve from the auxiliary tank. If there is no air, check pressure protection valve on the aux tank. If you have air here, even at low pressure, tighten the fitting, then disconnect the link from the axle and remove the airline going to the airbags. Move the link up and see if air comes out the hole that the bag airline was in. There should be a six second delay after you move the link. No air? Bad valve. Got air? Bad link adjustment or low pressure from the aux tank. Put a pressure gauge on the valve to check pressure. You should be able to get whatever the dash air gauge shows. Valves are in the $40 range so don't even mess with it. Put a new one on if it doesn't work. Hopefully, this will help. Jim |

If your friend has the same bus as you, and this all started when you replaced the treadle valve, I'd first make a drawing (or take a digital picture) of the plumbing on his treadle and make certain you have all the lines attached in the all the right places. If everything is just where it is supposed to be on the treadle, I think I'd then begin at the front bags with the coach aired up and attempt to follow the air lines from the bags back toward the air supply. At each valve or junction I'd crack the air supply line leading to the front bags (just prior to the junction or valve) and see if the air is stopped at that point. Unfortunately, finding the stoppage may or may not help solve the PROBLEM, but at least you will have a place to start. Brian |

yeah....trace it down..but..still say it's the levaling valve, the one that tells it "MORE AIR"...or...TOO HIGH...it will be a valve with an arm on it & like Jim said..should be in the middle between the front tires |

WE disconnected the leveling valve and moved it up and down and it seemed to work like it should...If ya pull it down, it started draining air to level..If you pulled the arm up, it was filling...I didn't see the pressure protection valve on the Aux tank but both tanks were getting air for sure. Next step is to start cracking lines...Ok, thanks. |

If bags are getting air the beams could or possibly sprung a leak, time for top blocking plates. ralph7 |

actually something to consider... a large air leak at a low enough pressure will hardly be any louder than a soft sigh...I think it still leaves you at cracking air lines though. Brian |

"Sildenafil citrate is not recommended for use while operating heavy machinery". Sorry, John, you'll have to try some "alternative means". LOL! |

Sean, one thing i ran into was there was water in a proportioning valve(sp) it didnt let any air go forward..took it out and hooked it back up without the valve.. if a bellow was busted youd hear it, line busted youd hear call bernie at bernhard bus..the guy knows his shit..if he isnt there ask for billy..they might know about a saudi bus..not sure what the difference is but those clowns could do anything.. bernies number is 215-679-8943, i think if you keep trying to get ahold of the oldtimers you might find the answer... sorry bernie..i dont think your old..just in knowlage..heh heh pete |
