finally got the diesel generator running since transplanting from Eagle to H3. Slide out works as planned along with quick disconnect exhaust that passes thru the floor as per Fred Hobe suggested. Only thing to to do to finish it up is install temp gauge, electric fans and air box.
By the way, after it was up and running, I had to actually go out and see if it was running because it was so quiet. The floor above it inside had NO vibration or noise other than a slight rumble. Very slight. So far "I" am very pleased with the outcome. Now if only the hurricanes will stop for a good week or two I might be able to finish it up and use it!

Ace,
Glad to hear you got your generator running. Is the transfer switch working? Did you try running anything off the generator? Jack

Not yet Jack! I want to get my fans working first so I can let it run a little longer plus it got dark on me when I started it up! We ARE moving right along now though. Even started studding up but man is that SS tough to work with! :)

Later...

I think you described it in another thread.

Yeah, that stainess is really a joy, I had a Peterbuilt with a stainless front bumper that was 1/4 thick (but seemed more like 3/4") I had to drill 4 holes in it... about took me forever.

HMM went out today to start the generator that puurred like a kitten night before last but it wouldn't start. Tried at first but nothing doing. Took off fuel filter and it was half full or half empty, (another good debate for Marc) so I filled it to the top and re-installed the full filter. Still nothing! I broke loose each lock nut above each injector while cranking and heard air escape and very little fuel. Still nothing! Pulled the return line off while cranking and no fuel. Now the book says to open fuel valve on injector pump. I never saw one to close it when I removed it ( the generator) from the Eagle. It also says to open the fuel valve on the fuel filter. The filter is a spin on type with NO valve. It also says to push lever on side of fuel pump up and down until all air is out of return line. The pump appears to be electric with NO lever to push.

What now?

Never miond, I found what is called an air vent cock which apparently had gotten broke off but after disassembly, I found how it worked. After reassemble and proper bleeding, It started right up and even though it is 11pm, with all the other gensets running in the neighborhood, who would care? I will try it again in the day light to make sure everything is still ok!
Thanks for your thoughts!

Where do you find those little airbags used as motor mounts for the generator. I'm about to mount mine in the old air handler bay above my motor compartment on my RTS-06? I guess I could get regular rubber bushing motor mounts for automobiles. I met Fred and saw his generator set up. (Great Person) He uses water pipe fitting like used on the water line coming in to your house from the water meter. I have it on my gas pack, natural gas pipe line too.

Jeff, Mcmaster Carr has the pneumatic mounts. About $72. each for 300 lbs. (/corner)
I suppose Grainger also has them.
