Came across this out of the blue and looked like it could be interesting! eMachineShop is the remarkable new way to get the custom parts you need - the first true online machine shop. Download our free software, draw your part, and click to order - it's that easy! Your part will be machined and delivered. Even better, the Internet, software, and automated machines help keep our cost low. www.emachineshop.com |

I forwarded this on to my CAD guy here, he says: So what? that's been around for years! I know we have stereo-lithography done, where we send a 3d model and we get a plastic resin piece back. Fairly Sci-Fi. Gary |

Well of course - using CAD and networks to transmit data ain't new, nor is 3D visualization, but assuming they're legit and offer quality work, what's cool is that an individual sitting in the middle of The Slabs can get on the net, whup out his visa card and get a custom piece of machined componentry made and delivered by UPS to the door of his shack in the middle of BFE. And even that is only a takeoff of online grocery shopping or whatever - but it's good to know that folks like us could get something useful made in quantities of less than 10,000! |
