I use AAA Plus RV. They paid to tow the MC8 about 40 miles. I figure I saved a bundle.

I have enough trouble with AAA with cars that I would not trust them with an RV. They seem to send the least qualified and cheapest tow truck companies. Locally the better ones will not tow for them. Last month a AAA tow truck driver insisted on starting a car with a blown radiator hose even though my wife begged him not to. He had on shorts and did not want to get his knees dirty hooking up the winch cable to the car. It did not start but he kept trying until he was tired of trying. They are slow to answer and come at times. I have waited 40 minutes on the phone for them to answer.

So if you are in Central Florida, you may get that kind of service. I keep it only to get a disabled car home from up to 100 miles away and for the trip ticks and motel discounts. I would not trust them with my bus.

I use Good Sam emergency service for the bus.

We use Roadcare Emergency Service...formerly Affinity Road and Travel Club, now connected with Camping World (Affinity bought Camping World, so I am told). Have used it three times in as many years and they were Johnny on the spot each time.

$89 covers the coach and all your personal vehicles.
Very pleased with them to date. Used them on a recent trip to Canada.

I use Coach-Net thru FMCA. Two days after I signed up for three years of towing insurance a rear wheel bearing failed on my bus about 900 miles from home. They were wonderful, arranged everything after 1 phone call. They had a flatbed come from 150 miles away and 'deliver' me and my bus 70 miles in the other direction to a Freightliner shop who did the repairs with parts from Luke and the services of an Axle Suregon. While I spent a bit on three days in a hotel and touring an unplanned destination and a bunch on the repairs the tow was completely covered by Coach-Net.

Be sure to check into Allstate. "RV Roadhelp" covers your cars and RV with unlimited towing to nearest capable repair facility. The $30 extra over the price of their regular auto club would have been money well spent for me last summer. Having a $220,000 Peterbuilt tow the bus off I80 was about 10 times that much. I believe the cost is under $90 total. I've had good service from them.

I am a Progressive insurance holder. I have their towing as part of my policy. I have used it 4 times in the last 2 years. My MCI 8 just had an inframe engine rebuild done and 604 miles later ate a valve in the new head. Progressive towed me 486 miles back to the repair shop. They said that 15 miles plus hookup is what they pay for but made an exception because I had been with them a long time. The other tows were more than 15 miles also. They were very quick ion response. They were ready to tow the bus back to the repair shop in 1 hour 15 minutes. I was not. I had them pik me up the next morning and they did a great job.

If any doubt the need for this insurance.. I was in Georgia in a State Park, the turn into the campsite was off angled on the far right side was a dip and a small drainage ditch. I turned right from the narrow turnin road and was climbing the small grade to the campsite. The right rear tandem cleared the road and nipped the drainage ditch just enough to raise above the tag axle. By breaking traction I was stuck tried the boards under the wheels dropping tag axle loading anything I could find under the wheel no avail. Called a wrecker after couple of hours attempting to free the bus. Wrecker came attached to the front of the bus and pulled me a whopping 3 inchs. When I was on ground again drove the rest of the path to the campsite. Total time on site including hookup and writing the bill... 10 minutes total charge $250.00 plus tax. Cost of having no towing and rental.... OUTRAGEOUS

I cancelled my "Allstate Roadhelp" because they only have a "few providers" (very few - I think) in the whole USA. I've had to use it three times in the past 10 years and they didn't have a provider anywhere near - so - had to pay out of my pocket, then send it in, then wait 6 weeks for a check. Once was coming North out of Hilton Head SC. Had a back inside dual blow. Called and they had no one near. My son-in-law (who's from Charlotte NC) said to me to ask them if there was someone in Savanah GA, (40 mi away) which I did. Gal came back on the line and said they had 2 providers there which she had called. One would not change an inside dual & the other wouldn't go more than 20 miles from home, so....ended up with a large tire Co. from Savanah, but had to pay out of pocket. It wasn't that much ($160), but had it been a tow job it would have taken all the cash we had. (Only deal in cash - NO CREDIT CARDS ANYMORE since I was frauded a couple of years ago.
Anyway, now have "GOOD SAM'S" which seemed a better deal - although I hope I never have to use it, but they claim a LOT more providers.

Checking with your current liability insurance carrier is a good idea first. If you are insured with USAA for instance, towing and emergency service is available for only a few dollars extra ($6 or $7 if I recall correctly), and the 800 number is the same as the one you may pay $100 for. Selling towing insurance as a separate package is a very profitable business for the individual companies.
If you spend $6 or $100, it is still a bargain if you drive a bus.

Airless: that's why my toad (K-5 Blazer or Dodge Power Wagon) will be able to PULL the bus, if needed. :)

Johnny better get one of those Pull wagons with a lot more rearend then they pack presently... I know that the mighty ant can pull a lot of weight. I also know that I have four wheeled and did so in a ford excursion weight about 4600 pounds, It would pull any car or pickup/jeep any where v.10 motor. These little ole busses only weigh in about 30000 pounds. My excursion I do no feel would have done more then pull me more then a small stuck. ANYTHING major would be a total joke attempting. Those commercials showing a pickup pulling a tractor trailer back in history were proven to be faked ads. These puppies weigh a lot.

I got a small track hoe you know the little bobcat stlye. It was stuck in 6 inchs of mud 10 feet off the road. It took 3 wreckers with block and tackles to pull us with me using the bucket and arm to push. That is a lot of muscle pulling that little track. Took them nearly 45 minutes to pull, all in unison.

It was not stuck, but I pulled my loaded 4905 with a Subaru Legacy. It did not act too sluggish on the level, remember it is rolling weight and you better have air and brakes left. Several people have reported "pushing" their disabled bus with their tow car hooked up to the next exit ramp! Now if you are stuck in the mud or off the end of a culvert, better get the big boys in there.

With the T-case in low-range, this PowWag had no trouble pulling a disabled (burst radiator) Autocar 10-wheeler about 100 yards--uphill--to a parking lot to repair it. Pulling my (15,000lb lighter) bus out of something like you described wouldn't be any problem.

And for the record, I HAVE seen 1-ton diesel pickups pull loaded semis. Not far, but they pulled it.
