Does anyone know what a good price is to remove, re-core and enlarge the radiator on a 1991 Prevost 8v92? Thanks for any input Dijs |

You're looking at $1200 for a new radiator core from Prevost, but if you are looking to upsize, you will also have new side tanks. Essentially a new radiator rather than a recore. More $$$. Only the 500hp engine had the larger radiator. The 475 has the standard which I have found works flawlessly, now that it has been replaced. I checked locally and got a price of $1600 for the same thing. And that was with my labor to remove, recore and replace. I have found Prevost to be equal to or less than the local suppliers. Consider the price of shipping on an internet order and also consider how many times the forklifts stab their freight. The only thing that has come through in decent condition from freight companies for me has been brake drums. Gensets usually come with a green puddle under them! Happened twice. Jim |

Jim: I have been told they may be able to add more core to the old shell which will improve cooling. Is that incorrect? I have been quoted $ 850.00 drop the radiator and replace it. That does not include the radiator work itself. dijs |

Don, Not only can they add more cores (rows), they can enlarge the tubes, put them closer together and change the fin material (to disperse more heat). New is usually terrific, but for my specific install, the rad shop was able to increase my cooling about 75%. The price was also 75% more than a new one also. I gues you get what you pay for as long as it is a REPUTIBLE shop. Vern (in RI) |

Call Larry Foster, Discount radiator in NY. 800-443-1322 I shipped my radiator all the way to him from California to get new and larger hi tech cores installed, they did a GREAT job and they are wonderful folks to deal with, and they definitely know what they're doing. All cooling problems went away. They split the freight costs, and they are better priced than anyone I found out my way... |

I just got a new rad for my 500 hp 8v92 from Prevost in Mira Loma, CA. $2,548 installed, including coolant. Big bucks, but oh so cool! Went LA to Vegas this weekend. 75 mph across the Mojave with no problems. Good luck. Bryan |
