Help! I've been narrowing down my choices for a bus and decided to find out what kind of paperwork I'm going to need to bring a bus from 'Merica to Canada. Did I hit a roadblock! An official from MCI tells me that unless a bus is in original, stock condition, I cannot bring it across the border. That can't be right, can it? If anyone has had this experience and can share what it took to solve the goverment red tape, I would appreciate it. To summerize, has anyone imported a converted or partly-converted bus from the U.S. to Canada and what did it take? Thanks Henry,eh |

Henry, I brought a bus in last year from US. During the course of the conversation with Canada Customs I mentioned I was converting it to motorhome. She Immediately asked if I had work done on it in the US before I brought it in. I had not and told her the same. She said that was good because if I had they would not allow it in Canada. She indicated there were only a few US converters they would recognize. Also since the bus was brought in as a bus, it has to be inspected and meet Canadian regulations for a bus not motorhome. On the MCI 9 I was required to change a steering linkage arm which was part of a recall, and Emergency exit signs had to be bilingual. |

karls advice is what you have to doto be very sure that all the bases are covered. get transport canada to fax you the requirements and then be sure when they are met that you get a written statement from the seller that if they stil will not let it in that you get your money back even the speedo in miles is a refusal point after a certain ageso watch for the little things on the check list |

Thanks everyone for their info. I'll have to wait until after the holiday season to pursue this further. My only concern is when is the last time anyone got the same answer from more than 1 goverment employee?? LOL! Henry |
