I am looking into to a MCI-9 bus conversion to tow my race car trailer. How much can I safely tow? |

You may want to ask your ? on the MCI board for an exact GVWR on the 9, and curb weight. I would estimate that u easily have 10,000+ left over for towing, which exceeds any hitch u could put on it. My recollection, which is sometimes faulty, recalls about 28-29k for the conversion and a gvwr of around 44 -45k. |

That weight rating sounds right, however, you need to know what engine and horsepower rating you have as well as transmission. Towing a race car and and a few extras should not be a problem. The MC-9 is common with an 8V-71 DD and a 4 or 5 speed transmission or the Allison automatic. I have worked on MC-9's with Cummins L-10's and M-11's. I would recommend a hitch with a 2 5/16 ball and hitch or a pintle hook setup. You can get the hitch with both. Check with MCI to find out what the towing capacity is and get with a good hitch shop to set you up on a hitch combination. |
