It does little good to do a good job of insulating a bus and have uninsulated windows, it's like having a huge hole in the side of your bus. The heat loss/gain through the glass will negate much of your insulating values in the roof and sidewalls. Your windows should be double glazed, tinted, and as small as you can put up with from an energy standpoint. It's estimated, for example, that driving into the sun produces over 20,000 btu's of heat gain through the uninsulated windshield alone. Your a/c system then has to extract that heat and push it outside the bus envelope. Normally, the cost of adding insulation and insulated components ultimately pays for itself in decreased fuel and energy costs not to mention comfort and liveability. FWIW- Neil '88 Setra |
