Hey Hutch, Good choice cutting up the air unit. I spent a whole week dismantling ours and it still wouldn't budge: I hadn't removed the drain fittings from underneath inside the engine compartment!geeeeeeeez... If you want to eliminate that breaker panel behind the drivers seat..uh, have you looked at the mass of relays inside the cockpit shell on the drivers right? Most of that is transit stuff: doors, destination, knell, interior lighting, money box ect..But also in that mess are relays for your start controls, instrument cluster, low oil, high temp,auto-shutdown for both ect..We chose to rewire as opposed to sorting that mess out. At least we'll know what the hell we got when we're done instead of trying to guess what they had in mind at the factory. I got rid of that triangular box in the rear by taking the harness coupler off (out)of the box and hooking 'em back together. I also cut that solenoid out of the loop. So now the harness is inside the finished wall and I've got a few extra inches. As for the air cleaner intake, I rotated ours about 45 degrees forward and am hoping for the best. I'm going to keep a close watch on the filter for awhile. I have no idea what "devices" are hanging in your bay. You say they are "open" and a quarter inch? They might be abandoned air lines. I'd trace'em down before I'd do anything w/ them. Thanks for the info on the parts warehouse. Good luck, TonyW |

Hutch, Just an educated guess on your 1/4" lines, take a close look to see if these are the bleeders for the drivers heat unit. My RTS had similar 1/4" lines... Hope this helps Toolman |

Hutch, These are drain tubes to get air out of heater lines running through the left side wall. If you are removing the heater lines you will have to cut them off the lines. |
