I own a 26' Neoplan (www.aracer.com/bus) that desparately needs a box that I can wire into my rear (24-volt) lights to hook up a small trailer. (with "normal" 12-volt lights)

I found a link a while ago, but another baby came along in my household and it disappeared into a haze of diapers and late night bottles.

Or, the manufacturer (and part number) of a 24-volt replacement for the 2057 (dual element) 12-volt bulbs the trailer currently has.

Thanks for any help,

B.J.

I'd recommend that you replace the 12v. bulbs with 24v. as the easiest/cheapest way to go. I've found that NAPA auto parts stores carry more truck/bus/24v. stuff than other parts stores. They would have a chart for 12/24 volt bulb interchange.

My local place did not. Anyone else KNOW the part number/manufacturer?

Bosch makes small metal cased cube relays that are ideal for this. Get ones with 24v coils and switch a 12v source. you can use the house batteries or center tap the bus 24v batteries, (ideally with an equalizer). Also available are bases that the relays plug into. They lock together to make an excellent assembly. Total space is about 1"x2"x4" and they can be exposed to the weather. Don't know where to buy them except from Prevost, Inc. That's what they use for the trailer/towed car lights on their conversion shells.

Dick Wright at Wrico International now sells the 24V/12V "conversion box" for towing.

It's not a "box" but a kit of relays and instructions, and kinda pricey at $69.99.

But I'm lazy, and don't want to re-invent the wheel by going off on my own. So when they call back (their computer wasn't up, as I called at 7:30 their time) I'll probably buy it.

Thanks to all for the help!
