Parts are available at any DDA dealer, I just paid four grand to have my 640 repaired. These can be found all over in truck yards, used in dumptrucks, service trucks, etc... check the differences but a 643 might swap right in and these are plentiful. Gary |

The MT-647 is not as common as most of the MT-640 series transmissions. When the MT-647 went bad in my bus the local DD/Allison dealer hemmed and hawed about whether or not they could fix it or rebuild it. Part of the problem was my transmission had the built in retarder on it. Which also contributed to the added cost to repair it. Pacific Torque in Seattle rebuilt my transmission. They did a great job even though it required a couple of extra trips back into the shop to get things correct. Total cost, including R&R was just a little over $8K. Good luck on fixing yours.
