I am starting to have aproblem with my 6v-71 temperature creeping up towards 200 degrees. On a car after checking fluids which are fine, I would start by checking and replacing the thermostat and work back to the water pump next. Anything else I should be checking. I have had the bus for almost 14 years and this is the first time other than going over the desert that I have had problems. Suggestions? Please e-mail suggestions to Richard at ref12@fresno.com. Richard, the first thing to check is the gauge. If you don't already have one, install a mechanical one in the engine compartment or as I suggested to someone a while back, put the gauge in a closet in the bedroom so the co-pilot can check it whilst underway. After verifying the accuracy of the gauge, and the motor is still getting hot, then carry on with the usual checks of the thermostat, clogged rads, collapsed hoses, etc. Peter. |

IF you had the coach for 12 years , how many times have you flushed and changed the coolant? The Coolant could have converted to Green Slime , and just need a good two part flush , and refill with Diesel , not car antifreez and distilled water. FAST FRED |

With reference to antifreeze types, Prestone will work fine in a DD, but don't forget to add the DD "Power Cool 3000", this bottle of additives/inhibitors does the job of helping to prevent pitting of the liners and all the other good stuff needed in your DD. You will need to check on the amount of bottles needed as it depends on the capacity of your cooling system. |
