Looking forward to finish work on interior walls and such which includes wiring outlets. My question is, I have seen outlets and switches in white, almond, and brown. My decor will consist of cherry colored formica walls on the lower half and some of the outlets in various locations will be on the lower half. What color should be used for the outlets? I have found cherry colored outlet covers but nothing close in outlets. White or almosd stand out like a sore thumb and brown just doesn't cut it! It kind of clashes. Is there a source for different colored outlets and switches? Thanks Ace ps plumbing soon to come so where's my plumber? |

Other than painted ones, in 30 years of being a landlord, I have never seen any other color other than white, almond, brown and the occasional red. The paint can scratch, but can also be touched up, start with the brown. |

I kinda like stripes. I've seen red and orange also. Put them in a hospital, the red were on emergency power and the orange were dedicated for computer use. Ed |

I have seen cover plates made of wood which you can stain, brass and colored plastic. Keep looking. Goodluck with your project, Wayne |

Wayne, He's not talking about coverplates, but the receptacles/switches themselves. Gary |

They make black as well, usually in the better quality electrical components, at HD as well. |

I can't help you with the color but I wonder why you want to make them so hard to find. Everyone expects to see outlets in a wall (whether in a house or motorhome) and the standard white or almond goes with every color in a house to everbody's satisfaction. |

Ace, The almond was brought out as a "neutral" color. It doesn't have the sharp contrast of a white or dark brown. It looks good with a wood switchplate, low profile appearance. Try one with a wood plate and view from a ways back. FWIW Jim Stacy |

Grainger.com has differnet colored outlets. They are not cheap. They have blue, red, orange, yellow, brown, black, white, and almond. Some are really expensive because they are isolated grounding or surge suppressing. |
