Ok, I checked all the archives and tried to determine where you mount the electric block heater element. I never really came up with a definitive answer, so here I am asking again. Where do you mount an electric block heater to a 6v92 silver? In my search I did find a plate with 4 bolts about 2" on centers about 12" behind the starter on the curb side of the engine. This looks like a place an electric element on a flange could be inserted and mounted. I confess I haven't bought the element, so I have no idea what it looks like. I also found a 3/4" plug just aft the curb side exhaust manifold which looks like it could receive a pipe threaded element. I'm basically just guessing as to how the element would be installed. Next question-How much coolant do you lose when you open the engine to insert the heater? Thanks for your help. David Anderson |

Dave - Give Luke a call. He'll be able to help, as he sells a lot of block heaters. 1-888-262-2434 RJL |

dave...I'd almost bet on the 3/4 plug.... my 8v71 is top right on the front of the engine 3/4 plug... you can do it two ways...drain down below & remove & replace ....or...teflon tape the threads...undo the plug & get the block heater in quick...............loss ...at least one gallon... |

Have you priced them yet? I checked at the local truck supply house and they wanted over $60.00. If you find a source I'd like to know about it and the price. I figured on hitting the junk yards someday. Thanks Ed. |

I haven't priced any, but in searching the archives, the cheapest price stated was about $55 for the element, so you are in the ballpark. David |
