Amen! To all service men. Those include World War I & II, Korean, Vietnam and all pass to present war. I remember many my folk's cousins and friends who serve World War II. My folk would take them to Fort Custer (Battle Creek, MI) and leave hoping they would be back alive. In the mean time wives were making bombers and guns. Sojourn for Christ, Jerry |

Thanks, all. Dad-in-law really appreciated it, too. He ended up giving me his entire library of photos and slides to scan and do up a memoir for him in video format. He's coming for Thanksgiving and I plan on getting him in front of the camera to give some history and insight. I also called up a wonderful local man today to express my appreciation of his service. He was with the 10th Mtn. Div. in WWII in the Italian Campaign and he was kind enough to share some stories about his time there in and around Italy and Yugoslavia. I'd love to get him in front of the camera, too, because when these stories are gone... they're gone. His kids and grandkids would treasure such a thing, I know. Our vets, especially the WWII ones, are dying by the score every day with stories left to tell. Don: I'll be sure and ask my dad-in-law about the CO of the 11th during his tour. Patton's son... wow! Al, Don, and Nick, thanks indeed for your service and sacrifice. If I'm lucky enough to run into any of you at a Bussin' rally, I'd be honored to just sit and hear your stories, too. FBB |

Here's one for ya John. About a German FOKKER fighter Plane A World War II pilot story A World War II pilot is reminiscing before school children about his days in the air force. (Joke best delivered with a good thick British accent) "In 1942," he says, "the situation was really tough. The Germans had a very strong air force. I remember, " he continues, "one day I was protecting the bombers and suddenly, out of the clouds, these fokkers appeared. (At this point, several of the children giggle.) I looked up, and right above me was one of them. I aimed at him and shot him down. They were swarming. I immediately realized that there was another fokker behind me." At this instant the girls in the auditorium start to giggle and boys start to laugh. The teacher stands up and says, "I think I should point out that 'Fokker' was the name of the German-Dutch aircraft company" "That's true," says the pilot, "but these fokkers were flying Messerschmidts OOPS sorry I@N (Editor's note: That's ok, Ken, Messerschmidt is not an offensive word ) |

A man who has been under fire, and came home when some of those he went over with did not... has a humility that none of us, that have taken for granted the peace they fought for, could ever come close to understanding or emulating. Thank God for them, and pray that all of us who are so fortunate, that we, and those who follow, are not put into that position lightly by those who make such important decisions. happy coaching! buswarrior |
