We have decided not to install a door latch, RV or truck type, such as used by many, per Fast Fred. We would like to retain the "claw"(MC9)as it provides a solid and safe retention for the door plus it really helps the noise.

My thought is to use the air valve formerly used for the baggage door locks to actuate the claw and bypass the electrical and relay portion of this setup. We would add a deadbolt for when we are away from the bus. Has anyone done this? Any reasons not to? Thanks.

Simple to do with any valve to control the cylinder. I just used the existing over ride valve and bypassed the electric solenoid valve.
A suggestion for the deadbolt is to mount the lock in the body using a long offset lock (5 &3/4" I think). This is much easier than mounting it in the door.

Hello Michael.

I would add my voice Stan's suggestion to use the existing over-ride valve. Less fooling around and money spent to accomplish the goal, the better!

And any other bus person has half a chance to figure out how to get out in an emergency, because it's function will be same as stock!

I'm assuming you are eliminating the door handle, and operating arm?

happy coaching!
