oil filter is on drivers side, back at the back, big ol' thing heavy when full of oil.,you might need one of those strap wrenches to get it off.....the plug,...doesn't sound right...who knows what the last guy did,the big one should come out, sounds like you need a new one.. |

Hey two dogs- I've got a hundred dollar bill says you can't get my oil filter off with TWO strap wrenches, and besude that, Charile's is two feet long and on the passengers side. Both are 8V71's and stock DD filters systems. Now what? ...JJ |

I've only had a few oil filters really give me grief over the years... After a few minutes of struggling with a strap, a large pair of channel locks come out and usually that does it...even if the filter gets mangled. But every once in a great while even that doesn't do the trick... I pull out a big screw driver and a mallet, stab that bugger straight through and using the screwdriver as a lever, off it comes! Yessir a big screwdriver and a mallet to hammer it home, works EVERY time. Brian |

I did the screw driver and mallet thing once and wound up tearing filter apart with threads still in housing. Judicious use of chisel finally solved that problem. |
