One of the biggest busnuts lives in Palacious TX. I not sure about that spelling, but it is right down by the Gulf. His name is Bill Lowman. He also Published a book called "How to convert Buses into Motor Homes". I am sure there most be more like him in south TX. |

Hey there, Greg.....although I live in the Panhandle South Plains of Texas ( Lubbock ) I would like to make your acquaintance...I am working on an Eagle 05/10 built in 1975...I have been working on it for nearly 3 years and maybe within the next month...we will take it out for the first trip...not many busnuts out here..so I long to talk buses with someone. I am converting a 1989 Eagle 20 and I am very excited about the whole project. Would really love to develop friendships and even eventually some caravaning partners for a fun trip now and then. I bet you are very excited about your first trip David. I am probably 1 year away from my first real trip. I hope to make a few trips to nearby South Padre Island during the conversion process and "camp out" in the bus. What engine/trans do you have in your Eagle David? And your 4106 Al? The different buses are so neat and each has it's own character. Are any of you going to the BCC in Laughlin October? I will be there as a fly in. Hope to meet some of you face to face. - Greg |

Hey there, Greg.....David from Lubbock again.......Our eagle has the usual 4 speed trans and the no turbo 8V71....it cruises about 65mph which is just fine for us.....the one unusual feature of our bus is the 'Incinolet' electric comode with no plumbing attached....just got it installed and have not used it but the premise is great...just dump the powder ever so often....Actually this is my 5th bus to convert. First an old chevy school bus, then an Amarillo city bus...then an ACF-Brill...then a 4103 GMC...and now the Eagle....I am 70 years old so this one is the swan song...but also will be the best of the lot....nearly 3 years to finish....I will pull a 92 Ford Ranger behind....Oh yes! yesterday...my wife was cleaning the aluminum with a OOO steel wool with Sheilas Shine...and boy! does it work great!...even removes the white spots of evaporated whatever was spilled...yes, it does take a little elbow grease but the results are great...try it....see! when I talk buses...I tend to ramble.....hope to visit with you again....see ya |

Hello Greg. Not exactly in South Texas (Lord knows its a big place) but we have an Eagle 05 in Fort Worth that is in the early stages of converting. That means we have the seats out and I do a lot of thinking about the next move. Glad to see some fellow Lone Star and BusNuts on here. |

Hey Greg, I'm In Keller just north of Ft Worth.... I know it ain't south Texas but thought I'd drop a line in here too. As someone else said it's a big state. My Scenicruiser has a 8V71 with a 4 speed spicer. just like it came from Greyhound. Maybe some day I will convert it to an auto but for now the $$$ saids no. I have many other thing to work out before that. besides I can get it to cruise at 70+ on flat land and that's fast enough for me... LOL. Maybe We should have a Texas rally sometime... just a thought. |

A Texas rally is a great idea. Maybe in about a year though so I can get my bus at least liveable. Glad to hear there are so many Texas converters on here. Are you going to the BCC in Laughlin next month? I will be there as a fly in. - Greg |
