What do you all think is the best riding and most reasonable price for a steer tire? I will probably travel 3-5000 miles a year on these. I don't mind paying for a good tire, I just don't want to buy an expensive tire that will be rotten before I use it up. My tire shop recommended Bridgestone at 350.00. I checked the archives but didn't really find an answer. Cliff |

No but I have used a simular tyre $225.00 same warrenty. You need to check several things 16 ply tyre rating ( I will check this).your tyres will dry rot before you get a chance to wear them out so why buy expensive.I had a new bridgestone blow out a few months ago on my passenger front. John |

But any truck stop will do so happily...and I trust most truck stops more than Wal-Mart. |

You really want to see something, watch a guy change tube tires on 20" split (widowmaker) rims. It was impressive--2 9.00-20's swapped, balanced, & on the truck in about 20 minutes. I drove that truck (1979 International) today, in fact. |

If you know someone in upstate new york check with any rural shool bus operator. They are required to switch to snow tires and the take offs are pretty cheap |

Any truck tire shop will mount/balance for their standard fee, which they charge (hidden or otherwise) even if they sell u the tire. As for brand name, I'm not so sure that it really matters as long as the specs are the same that ure shopping. Afterall, u find failures in all brands. |

TwoDogs - Not always - our local districts use the exact same tires as most of the charter bus companies. The transit fleet uses tires rated at 55 mph max, but not our skoolie folk. |

The skoolies around here use plain old truck tires--sizes are 10R22.5, 11R22.5, 265/75R22.5, and 295/75R22.5, with a few still running the old 10.00-20's. Almost invariably, the steers are G647 Goodyears, & the drives are recapped Goodyears or Michelins. |
