You know I have been wondering about this fuel thing myself.
My fuel station has #1 and #2 diesel. My MCI 96A3 says on the tank #1 recommended and #2 acceptable.
Some of the stops we have made there was no choice. It did not say if we were getting #1 or #2, just diesel on the pump.
Not being a big rig driver or diesel owner in the past, we have not got the great understanding for the different fuels yet. Artic fuel adds even more interest to my wondering now.
I have put #1 in when available. I also see the C-tane boosters on the shelf and thought this might be good to have in while not running it much this winter. Or add when I can only get #2
We need to top off befor winter to prevent condensation collection in the tank. I used # 1 last winter with no troubles.

Anyone care to share what they know about all the different fuels / additives and when to use them or not use them.

Thanks for any input Larry

#2 has more energy (its heavier) per gal than auto #1.

A DD doesnt need cetane booster , but in really cold weather IF you bring southern fuel up north an anti gelling agant will be needed.

If you buy fuel in the north the anti gelling agent will be there.

The most important thing fuel should be is Clean & dry of water.
