IAN have there been some changes in the last two weeks? I find my page takes like 5 minutes to load up, almost as long as the "OTHER BOARD" loading time. Did you change the address or is there a problem with a server somewhere? In comparison, I used to get on BNO in less than a minute but for the past two weeks it has taken forever to look at BNO home page, much less the bbs. Any ideas? cd |

Hi Cory, Javascript on our home page is counting down on a clock to January 1, 2005. Because Java downloads and operates within the available resources of your computer, it can be slow if you have an older computer with a newer O/S in it. For example, Windows 98 operating on a 486 with 64 meg of RAM. You may be able to get around the problem if your computer and/or browser documentation shows a way to ignore Javascript applets. There have been no changes to the bulletin board system, DieselChat or any other interactive areas on BNO, so the rest of the web site should be working ok for your old clunker :-) Cory, if it's taking a month of Sundays to open a simple Java clock, it's time for an upgrade! Hmmm, just in time for Christmas!!! Ian www.busnut.com |

Corey, it could be spyware programs slowing down your computer. If you don't have a couple of spybot programs they will build up in your system and slow it down. My daughter complained of her's slowing down so I downloaded some freeware and eliminated over 500 spyware programs running on her's. www.safer-networking.org has a few good ones and links to a couple of more sites, Adaware 6.0 is also a good one. Mine got so bad, before I got the Spybot programs, I formatted my hard drive and re-installed everything. Any questions email me. I'm sure there are a lot of people on here that know of other sources too. Ed Jewett |

If you are on XP, the move to Service Pack 2.0 is a good one, it doesn't actively kill spy/ad-ware, but it stops a lot of things in their tracks. It's free, but a whoppin' download. Gary |

I already have SP 2.0 I didn't realize my IBM NetVista 40X could age so fast over a two week period. That when the problem came up, two weeks ago, otherwise, loaded quickly before. Like the twilight zone now. HUmPH!! cd |
