Has anyone use vinyl stripping? I had my bus painted last summer but would like it a little more jazzed up. Vinyl, like use for signs seems like a good way to go and no too expensive. Any experience?

I did, I used vinyl pin stripping, got it a an autobody shop, lots of diff. colors and widths. Put in on in warm weather and remove the clear film on the o/s.(they don't tell you about that) Very happy with the results, way easier and cheaper the masking and paint them.

Integrate reflective tape if you can.
Just a suggestion . . .

Some of the charter fleets are using bus wraps now. They paint the coach some single neutral colour and then all the colour is applied as a great big decal. It's not as expensive as you might think - $6500 canuck bux according to a fleet operator near to me and that includes installation.

Oh yes Vinyl graphics are the best and easy.

There has been lots of Vinyl shops opening these days. These places will custom make many items for you. Even large size graphics of your design. Check your yellow pages. I see lots of vinyl graphics and some striping on ebay also.

Sure beats painting and papering !
Be sure to show us how you did when your done !

I have a vinyl cutting machine if your interested in some vinyl. I do it part part time so the price could be low low. Let me know what you have in mind and I'll give you a idea what the cost is. It is not hard to put on if want to do it yourself. I was sending alot out for race cars and most people put it on them self. I have a old website that has samples you can look at www.bairdsigns.com some places you can have the vinyl printed on then apply it but I just layer the colors on.

I'm w/Gary. 5k for a temp. paint? job. Has anybody looked at these wrap jobs after a couple of yrs. running in the CA/NV/AZ. sun--not a pretty sight with all the spider webs and canyon sized cracks. As for the 7 yr. warranty--haven't yet found someone doing it 7 yrs. ago that is still in the business. Also, try repairing it when it gets damaged; a major undertaking. Or try removing it after 2-3 yrs.; if u had paint under it you won't have after trying to get it off. I would rather have a cheap paint job.

I can get the 7 year vinyl, but in 7 years I won't be doing this so if you come looking I won't be around. Removing vinol could be different then removing vinyl, I'm not sure but like anything else if you know how to do it correctly it’s not a bad job. The dolphins look great but were there any printing done on the vinyl or just cutting with application tape on top. I’m not trying to sell anything, just offering to help. If you want to buy the vinyl yourself at cost you can get it at http://sign-mart.com/ Sign-Mart can also do the job and send it to you printed or cut. In addition to the vinyl you need an equal amount of application tape.

Two Dogs - Try "Goo Gone", available at most markets, Target, WalMart, etc. Works real well on adhesives, just give it a few minutes to do it's magic.

You can find rolls of strips of all widths on the web. We painted our bus white and used decals for the accents. Most motorhomes I've checked had decals. Our is fine, but it's only been a year and basically all indoors. I don't think I have noticed and serious problems on most RV's I've seen with them.

W're talking about two different things here--one is the "Shrink-Wrap" that covers the whole bus. Five or Six grand for a 40' traveling billboard is great deal, but if you think it would be great as a permanent paint job on a coach conversion you should have your medication checked.

The other is adhesive backed vinyl, which is good as long as you're using it right.

TD--If you're fighting with what I think you are it's UV fading of your paint, which will go all the way through the paint--to the metal. I just posted on this on the other thread.

I've actually always used WD40, it's always worked for me.

Hardware store thinner, not automotive laquer thinner, I recognizee it as solvent.

Is the paint on your Eagle a good quality automotive paint?

asan ex auto detailer, i used a hairdryer to heat up the glue and make it very soft easier to remove.

at a LAST resort. easy -off oven cleaner , but KEEP A HOSE HAND if its left on tooo long it will take the paint.

I had a shop 10 years ago stip in some areas over my 25 year old Imaron paint job,
The Imaron still looks gook the vinyl, has dulled, cracked, shrunk and started to peel off.
Vinyl is only short term look.
