Does anyone have a picture of 6-71 DD that shows what componants are what, this thing wont even start now, she allways started on the first crank, now it just clicks even with a battery booster on it also, the large canister in the top of the engine bay i assume is an air cleaner, can i just unlatch it and make it open or what? stupid guy |

Todd, It takes a bunch of juice to turn over a 6-71. Each of those 8D's is over 1000 Cranking Amps (mine are anyhow). When I had dead bats I couldn't crank mine with my stroke hooked to the bats and the charger hooked to the starter. If it's just clicking it sounds like your not getting enough juice. It's hard to say what the canister is since everything they put a 6-71 in basicaly had a diferent set up. My air cleaners (3) are directly over the engine and just unlatch to let the bottom come off. The best way to find your air cleaners is to follow the blower tube and you filters should be at the other end of it. If you unlatch it it should just come off, might take a little twisting/tapping to get it to come loose, but for all practicle purposes it will come right off. |

On a 4104, the air intake hose goes up and into an "air box" . The three air filters are suspended from the air box. The bottoms come off of the cleaners. Jim-Bob |

tod have you tried taking a battery to the back close to the starter and hook your charger to it then use very heavy jumper cables, hook the one cable directly to the block and touch the lug on the starter hook it up the same way that your batteries are hooked in their bay being sure to do this correctly as some 4104's are still wired positive grd. if when you touch the started it spins thenwork your wayback through the starter connections till you find the trouble |
