A while back I purchased a cheapo security camera set up from Harbor Freight...it probably worked fine, however, in stringing the wire from back to front of the coach , it was necessary to cut the cable and go thru smaller holes than the "head of the wire"(where it connects to the TV)could manage. In the process, I destroyed the "head", yep, believe it or not! Small holes, big head....no splice possible the way I cut it. DUH!!! I now have left a Video and an Audio RCA plug, each with two wires coming out of them....presumably a positive and a ground (plain stranded wire). I also have "fashioned" a DC plug for the TV (the TV will accept 12 volt) and have a question on the final hookup.....I have attempted several things and have gotten Audio, but no Video. Now, just plain frustrated at my lack of expertise. There are four wires coming from, as it were, the camera. Telephone type wire, but stranded. RED YELLOW BLACK GREEN. Question.....what goes to what to make the system work???? Or how to check? I've attempted every combination with an Ohmmeter and a DC reading, but get NADA (nothing) Only three connections involved...Video Audio, 12DC Just hate to go out and buy a whole new system because of cable problems. Many thanx in advance. RCB '64 Crown Supercoach (hwc) |

And the manufacturer was on the south side of Hong Kong. I used the cable from the same set for my b/u camera I chucked the camera,--I'll check my cable in the morning and see if I can find for you which color went to what since I changed the plugs on one end. |

Harbor Freight Item 37712-6VGA? If you've found the power and ground, then your're off to a great start! Typically in small cameras, they only use one ground line (common to all signals). If you have your audio already, try using the other line (that you have used as audio ground) as the center conductor for the video feed. Then tie all the shields to ground. This should get you fixed up. Note: * one Ground wire, * one AC Audio wire, * one AC Video wire, * one +12 volts DC power. Tim Strommen (6 years A/V Experience) |

RC: Is there a 4th World, cause if NM is 3rd W. then CA is marginal 4-5th W. Hear u on the HF tools. I quit buying the good stuff--have a niece that works part-time at HF and I get 25% off sale prices! Cheaper to buy 2 of them than 1 hi $$$ 1, What the hell, there all made in China anymore. |

Speaking of tools, I love HF. When we first bought our house I spent the big bucks on a heavy duty DeWalt sawzall. After gutting the whole house and basically rebuilding it the thing quit on me. I found out that for the price of repairs I could buy one just as powerful from HF. I am 2 years later I still have the sawzall from HF and it works great. Best part is if it dies I will just go get another one. Mike in 6th world Oregon. |
