I have some heaters off some school buses . 12 volt 2 fans in each. The fan motor has 2 wires coming out and the case is the ground. One wire hooked to 12v it goes low speed . The other wire hooked to 12v it goes high speed. My question is should I have both wires hooked to 12v when on high or just use one. High speed works the same with one or both wires hooked up. Any one know how it should be hooked up ? Im sure some one here knows. Brian 4905 Klamath Falls Oregon |

Brian, It dosen't make any difference. You are bypassing part of the field winding on high speed, and there will be no current in the other wire at that time. Jock |

Brian, Jock is correct. The factory (Bluebird, Thomas,Ward, etc.) wires them so that the power is directed to each speed individually. It will work either way but depending upon how you do it, troubleshooting future problems might be easier if you do it like the factory did. hth, Tq |
