Howdy Hi kids,
I finally got some internet access YEA!!
First off let me say to my fellow bus nuts, Merry Christmas, Felise Navidad, Shalom, or whatever else you can think of that's politically incorrect.

So far i've made it from Daytona Beach to Phoenix Az (gods country) without a hitch, knock on wood. I'm still having to stop every 2 hours and refill the radiator, really sucks :-( but I'll figure out why it does this once i finish the trip.

Btw, I'm averaging about 11 MPG at 70 mph, and using about a Gal of oil every 1000 miles.

Under my engine cover I found the origional rear telltale plate that says Oklahoma Transport Company, so if anyone knows more about this, my coach is PD4104-4630

So...
Along the way I've met some really terrific people, you know the type, the kind of people that make you realize that you made the right decision in buying a coach, thanks guys :-)

The trip from Florida to alabama was interesting, pretty hilly from Tallahasse to AL. But when I got to Alabama I got a run on a hill and was cruising nicely up it at 60 mph when i passed another 4104 pulling a trailor. I got several miles ahead of him due to the hill so I pulled over at an exit for a truck stop, the driver saw me and pulled off.

Turns out his name is Gaston and he was driving a '54 4104 that was really nicely done, about 150k worth, we stayed up most of the night talking busses, it was fantastic. Gaston was my first physical contact with another NUT other than this website LOL. I ended up spending the night there and he gave me lots of little tips about my coach, his cell # is 361-232-3062 try and meet this guy, you will all like him. He also gave me the cell # of a guy who has been working on these coaches since they were new and is gonna help me with some little problems.

Alabama to Texas:
Uneventful except for one teeny tiny little part, no one told me about New Orleans, well kids i'm here to tell you, and please pay attention... GO AROUND NEW ORLEANS NOT THRU IT!!! there are 2 bridges there that I swear are 80% grades, no kidding, i felt like i was sitting in the space shuttle ready for take off while i chugged up those bridges LOL

I met John in Orange, TEXAS not Cali lol, what a great guy, bought me coffee and looked over my coach. John has 2 4104's, I'm so jelous. Anyway we had a great chat and since then he's been calling my cell regularly to make sure i'm ok and the trip is still going well :-) If you get a chance to stop and see him, DO IT, again, a terrific guy, thanks John :-)

After I left John, I headed west, San Antonio was interesting, whoever said texas is flat has never driven a 671 LOL. Lots of little anoying hils for about another 100 miles. I saw this little rv park off the freeway so I stopped to recharge my personal batteries, great little place, only 10.00 per night full hookup, so I spent the night, i needed it.

Texas to Arizona:

Pretty landscape, I liked New Mexico the best, FLAT, great fuel milage and a peaceful drive. GOt into Tuscon where I met Geraldo (from this board) We met for dinner and had a great time talking busses. The mexican resurant he took me too had great food, it was so nice to have a good meal and good company :-) Thanks Geraldo

As you all prolly know Geraldo has a 4104 and is just starting to get things going on it, It's a really nice coach, and he seems totally into the project :-) He's a nut LOL I loved the Alcoa wheels, man I have to have a set of those someday (hint Hint santa) Like I said, the food and comapny was great, we drove around tuscon in my coach. He called me yesterday so I could hear his 671 is running YEA!!!! he had spent time and got his 671 to breath some life and will soon have it on the road with the rest of us :-)

Again, another great guy you have to stop and see if your in the area :-)

Got into Phoenix yesterday, I came to see my x-inlaws and pay my respects, my x was killed last year when some asshole high on coke lost control of his semi, you have no idea the terrific loss the world suffered loosing her, she was an incredible woman. Anyway, I expected to stay for lunch and then head out to CA, but they insisted I stay thru christmas :-) Wish i could explain how great this family is, and how good they are to me :-)

So I'll close for now, I'll have more to post when I get to cali, plus I'll get some pictures up of the trip for everyone to see :-)

I love my coach, she is my new best friend, and you guys are all so awsome, thanks so much :-)

Again special thanks to Gaston, John, and Geraldo, you guys are the best!!!

Note to Juan in CA, I'm coming to see you next, so beware LOL

Thanks folks

Todd: Glad to hear that things go well with your travels. I like your way of travel; no set itenerary. You must have crossed the Huey P Long in NO. Yours are typical of the comments I've heard from others that were not for-warned of it. Fortunately, the 1st time ever there I was told by one of the ladies in the State Line Visitors Center to avoid it with a big bus and she showed me a good route around it. But the best route if u don't want to go to NO is take I-12.

Safe travels!
