Yesterday, December 20, I picked up my MC9 in southeastern Iowa. The people who sold it to me were super nice and very helpful. I was told, more than once, to NEVER run out of fuel, or there would be a big problemo. I promise, on a stack of pizzas, to never do that. Tank read half full, so I added another 60 gallons to the 179 G tankage and headed west on I-80. Arriving in Des Moines in the dark, I was greeted by snow flurries. The flurries quickly became a snowstorm farther west, even covering the lines on the road. I was only going about 40, but few people passed me, mostly semis. After about 60 miles of "snow fun", I drove out of the weather just east of Omaha, where the roads were only wet. I learned it's best to have the washer jets aimed at the windshield, rather than away. I stopped at Flying J to wash the front glass, which really helped. The rest of the trip was less stressful, and I arrived home, parked the coach and smiled at how much I already enjoy it. It's gonna be fun! | ||

After two years of research and hours spent looking that drive home was both awesome and hair raising at times, the trip was only 340 miles, of course it had to rain to make it exciting, defroster didn't work, i later found the valves turned off in the engine compartment, but of course only after i was home. I too didn't shut the engine off some 8 hours later, when i was home. When the rain stopped it actually was fun i even remember seeing other buses and people waving after that, putting the tags down in the rain really made a difference in the rain it was more stable, or maybe i was more stable......i'm not sure which one, after a month of owing my first bus, it is almost stripped to the bone. I'll never forget that first ride, the thing that surprised me was how quiet inside it was, and no squeaking, that has to say something.......yeah, yeah...either i'm deaf or it was well made......The challenges that are coming up, i'm looking forward to, one thing i have noticed is the price people give you when you tell them its for a bus, now if i could afford those prices would i be doing this myself?.........Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow......this will be a great Christmas i haven't had one like this since i was 8 years old......Merry Christmas and a Warm New Year to All,......and may the Lord protect our troops where ever they are, God Bless Them! | ||

Nice Rig JJ! I'm glad that the first drive was mostly a good experience. I drove bus a lot in the past, so the driving part wasn't bad on my first drive with my Eagle, but I was stressed out about every little noise she made. That takes a while to get used to. Have fun. Travel lots. | ||
