Hey kids, my transmission has been shifting real nice when its cold, but as it warms up it starts the grind in between gears, i know part of it is clutch adjustment, but i just checked the tranny fluid and its low, here is the question..

i was told to use 30w wt oil, is this right?

thanks

If it's a 4104, it actually calls for 50wt non det.

Todd,
Be sure you are on level ground, or it will not read correctly. Now is not the time to chane the oil out. But when you do go with synthetic, it really helps for a smooth gear change.
But for now top it up with 40wt engine oil.same as you are using in the engine.

Todd, when we had our 4104, I ran SAE 50 Racing Oil.

I ran this oil 2 years before I replaced it and it still looked good.

The book for an 06 calls for engine oil , which when the chasis was created was 30.

They changed to 40 for the engine , but I never heard of a change for the tranny.

I use 2 qts of synthetic with 30wt non detergant oil in the tranny.

The synthetic has higher sheer ability , so helps as you shift and an occasional tooth touches.

Harder shifting after warmup is from the clutch disc touching somthing. Either the adjustment is off or the disc is warped.

When stopped engine running and HOT , take the shift from first, and shift into neutral , then back to first with the clutch depressed all the time.

If it grinds going back into first , re adjust the clutch.
This is ONLY for dry clutches , not the later oil filled units.
