Yes it will, but. . .

Best to get the entire steering from the 4905 - column, bevel gears, sheppard box, etc.

Reason (Thanks to Luke @ US Coach): There is a difference in the bevel gear ratio at the bottom of the steering column between the Sheppard-equipped GMs and others. Putting just the Sheppard box in w/o changing the bevel gearset will not provide the optimum steering setup - he says they'll wander almost like the original "ram" steering.

They wont wander if the alignment is right and the gear is not worn out , the 4905 column is also shorter than the 06, the bevel gears can be put into the 06 gear box.. been there done that

I to, have been there, done that. My 06 tracks straight after setting the toe in and installing a used sheppard box from nimco and changing to the high pressure pump.

Dave -

You don't say where you are, but contact Bab Steering, they're in So CA:

Several busnuts have had excellent service from them, at reasonable rates.

Hi Guys:
Just to clarify what I told RJ in our conversion about converting to Sheppard steering (and we were talking about eliminating all play), I suggested, from the experience of numerous customers, that a 1 to 1 ratio gear set at the bottom of the column would insure a PLAY-FREEE
steering system. Another qualifier, it was only the late 4905 production (not sure of the VIN starting point, but basically somewhere from 1978 to 1980) where the 1 to 1 ratio was installed in the GM production.
Many items come into play to have a tight steering system including king pins, tie rod ends, drag link ends, steering shafts, yokes & universal joints as well as the support bearing on GM's where the 2 shafts join along with the connecting splined shaft.
Unfortunately, a brief comment can be misconstrued and passed along as the total story, which is not what I intended with the conversation I had with R.J.
We had a general conversation regarding the conversion from the original GM system to Sheppard
steering.
Just had to clarify this so as not to confuse folks.

Thanks, Luke, for clearing up the point I made. Appreciate your expertise, filling in the blanks to the generalized comments I made above.

Wouldn't want to steer a fellow busnut wrong. . .

(Sorry, couldn't resist the pun. . .8^)
