They work great.
They are totally legal.
They become illegal if you use the software to descramble scrambled channels.

Unscramble you will get everything DISH Network has, Everything BELL EXPRESS VUE has. EVERYTHING THAT IS ON THE AIR except DIRECT TV.
Includes all pay for view and Pay channels etc.
The ones on ebay are normally LAST GENERATION. They will run around 165.00 range. The new Technology is out and those have a very very limited life. The newer versions wholesale for around 350.00 range when buying 100 units at a time (Not including shipping) and sale for around 499.00.
If using a moto-sat you will get approx 2500 tv channels. The setup is easy if using only one dish however you would have to have a means to rotate the dish inorder to get the most channels. IF setup stationary you would get approx 380 tv channels and 120 audio channels. That is using one dish pointed at one satellite.

St2000 is the series you would wish to have. The support is the main issue for the units. Without the support you are pretty much stuck on your own.

Greetings,

I'm not really interested in doing anything illegal. I'd be happy with clear reception of the major networks and public tv. Court TV would be nice also. Is this possible with a system such as found at

http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Order/Systems.htm

They have a complete with everything motorized dish and reciever for about $300. Only around $200 if you get it as a card on a coomputer.

Is this magazine usefull?

http://www.tele-satellite.com/

By the way, everything I've read seems like you need a 30 inch or bigger dish. The motosat is more like 18 inch. Does it make any difference? When you say limited shelf life, do you mean the reciever becomes useless? Or you need to chase upgrades?

Thanks!

Jeff

The system that is shown there is the same concept as the Ebay. That system does not come with any of the software that allows you to acquire any of the scrambled satellites. It will receive some channels without the software.
The system without the software you should purchase the ebay system. Saving money... Without the software you will not be happy with the system. What most distributors sell is the support.
The 18 inch dish will work with all the major Providers it will not work allow you to get the SKY network from abroad and a few other sats from abroad. The 30 inch allows most if not all of the other countries sats. The 18 inch is works fine in most instances.
The different providers are changing their form of
software. The version they are running right now works fine on the old systems. The new version will not work on most of the old systems. This change will pretty much make trash out of the older systems. Lots of manufactures are blowing out their stock and dumping the product as fast as they can. February is the expected date of the changeover so those who make the system can either
replace the chips in their stock or dump... They are choosing to dump.
Please feel free to email me any questions at the
address I provided earlier in this string. I have been a dealer of these systems for about 4 years now.
