Hello busnuts! In case you thought everything new is better than everything old... These are three pics of a fuel tank that belongs in a brand new Orion VII transit bus. Low floor front half, standard height rear. The tank resides ahead of the rear axle, and the fill neck goes on the end over the open rectangular hole. Needless to say, a quality control nightmare. see pics further below. I edited the crappy ones out. happy coaching! buswarrior |

Intresting, these appear to be made from stainless steel sheet with butt welded square corners. |

Fools rush in ???? LOL BTW, with just brown discoloration and not blue, it seems someone professional did the welding, that, together with the fact that the contents are supposed to be a non-electrolyte bodes well for their longevity Onward and Upward |

That's true until a layer of water forms at the bottom of the tank from condensation. Then the diesel fuel on top of the water seals out oxygen from the stainless which prevents it from forming the protective oxide layer. And then I think I'll weld up some samples, some back purged, some not, some not welded. These samples will be sealed in plastic containers with the contents of my grandsons diaper and maybe a Pepsi. I'll let you know. It's never too early to get the kids involved. |
