Did a check on my fuel on the bus and it is clear like kerosene. Not blue, green or red. Is this a problem I should be concerned with? Purchased it retail 3 years ago. Appears fine. Not driving right now. CROWNS FOREVER!!! |

Road fuel is clear yellow. Off road, non (road) taxed fuel is red. Not sure about green, never seen any. Jim-Bob |

Ahh.... well... I should add... Years back (sound of random harp string plucks), one of the more famous oil companies (up North East) called their winter blend "green diesel". And indeed, it did look green to the bare-assed ..... errr.... -naked- eye. Now..... The term "Green Diesel" technology/fuel seems to reconcile itself to mean some sort of bio mix that will save our earth, our polar caps, our wildlife, our babies and most anything else that will inspire someone to vote for an agenda that will raise our taxes... (did I get carried away? again?) So.... "Green Diesel" may not any longer have anything at all to do with winter, except that it might have something to do with not allowing winter to be warmer than winter should be. Yellow or amber... and nearly see-through, seems about right. As long as it doesn't look like Jello. |

We've seen #2 vary all the way from water color clear to a fairly dark brown. When I asked about the color variation, I was told that it depended on the source of the oil and the refinery. About the only effect that it had on us was that the clear seemed to turn into a mist easier than the dark. The clear was supposed to have come from some fields near Kenai, AK, if I remember correctly. We have seen some that was slightly green and some that was slightly blue and we have seen the red dyed fuel, as well. For what it's worth. Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576 Suncatcher |

the colour varys depending which state you get your fuel in as some allow the companys to add hazard waste material such as paint ahd this changes the colour depending what they are trying to pump into the air so it cannot be found in drums some where. Alaska has put a stop to this as has Canada. |

Red dyed fuel is for off road vehicle use only. If you are caught using it in highway vehicles the fine, I have been told, is $10,000. Richard |

Well, it is clear. Not any particular color at all. Seems to burn OK. No weird smoke or smell that I can detect. I was just wondering since this fuel was purchased at a retail gas station... ...and...if it seems that if the color is NOT red, then I am OK. Not that I am going to advertise the fact. This may be a good example of someone getting the wrong fuel WITHOUT his knowledge. Thanks. |
