About a week ago I asked the board for advice on my Spicer 5-speed slipping out of high gear going downhill. Phil Dumpster suggested I recheck the torque on my transmission bolts because the shop that reinstalled my engine left so many other bolts loose. I wasn't able to fit my torque wrench in the confined space around the bell housing but, I could get a wrench to all the bolts. Bottom line, the harder the bolts were to get at, the looser they were. I was able to turn the worst ones up to a 1/4 turn. I guess the shop that put my bus back together had some girly-man working for them. I took the bus out for a 100+ mile drive today and did not have any more problems. I just wanted to pass this information on to anyone else that might have a similar problem and thank everyone for their input. I'd especially like to say thanks to Phil for hitting the nail on the head. Happy bussin in '05!! Getting bus-nuttier by the day... Gillig-Dan |

Thanks Dan, It is too seldom that somebody takes the time to tell us what the cure for their problem was. It is nice to hear that your problem was solved, and even nicer to hear that you found the answer here. Great job, Phil Dumpster.....and....thank you for sharing, Gillig-Dan. Tq |
