Has anyone set up a full size captains seat to rotate around to face the Living Room area in a 4104? Is there enough room to do this? My seat is full power and reclines. Is there a need for an air ride base with a full power seat and air bag suspension? I have an air ride base with a freightliner seat. The air ride base could go under my captains seat? |

If you don't use the air ride base, my Gillig would take less toll on my kidneys if I fitted one. I am currently searching ebay for a good buy. Let me know if you don't end up using yours. (dan DOT obrien AT metso DOT com) Maybe a way to make enough room to swivel would be to a pair of seat slides from a salvage yard and mount them sideways on the floor so the seat can move toward the center of the bus. That way, the chair could swivel without hitting the bus wall. I don't know whether you would clear the stearing wheel though. Good luck with the project, Gillig-Dan |

I was thinking about taking my airride out, but after hearing enough on this board, I've dedided to leave it in. A couple of cross-country trips convinced me for sure. YOu can install a swivel base between the base and the seat. At least that is what I am going to try. Gary |

Hi Nelson I had a air ride base in my 4104 when I bought it. I left the base and built my own swivel on top of the air ride base. I used tapered bearings and incorporated a front position latch. This allows the drivers seat to be rotated to a small dinning table with a second swivel seat. It does increase the usable space as well as making it nicer to get in and out of the driver seat with the floor shifter. Tim |

I used a pair of Flex Steel Hi-back recliners in my Gillig. I am able to swivel around to face the isle, but not much further. I simply 'cut down' the factory swivel base, shortened it as much as I could, fabricated a new mount, and bolted it to my air-ride base. Works great!
